Using a light box with an Eye One would not be an option unless the software provided a way to do a spectral calibration to that light source; i.e., provide a transmissive mode.  I do not believe there is any such support yet for the Eye One. Additionally, the light box would have to be very uniform, or the measurement would have to be made in the very spot the calibration was done in. The Spectroscan T provides this capability for the Spectrolino and is supported in Profilemaker.  Additionally, there are transmissive options for the IC Color and the X-rite DTP 41. The IO table for the Eye One promises transmissive capability as well, but has yet to be released.
