I'm building the profiles on a Mac (of course <g>) for Mac and Windows users
and sending them either via email or upload to web server. So I "compress"
(Zip for PC, Stuffit for Mac) and along with the .icm extension, the number
of issues I have are insignificant. In the last 5 or 6 months this has been
about 400 profiles.

From a websearch:
"ICC VERSUS ICM PROFILES ICC designates International Color Consortium
profiles used with the Macintosh operating system. ICM designates Integrated
Color Management profiles used with the Windows operating system. ICC and
ICM profiles are interchangeable (cross platform) between either operating
system. The only difference is that, if an ICC profile is going to be used
with the Windows operating system, it must have a file extension of.ICM."
I'm not sure if .icm is totally necessary but as I've said, my experiences
with a large group of users of various flavors of Windows OS is that the
.icm extension certainly hasn't produce any problems on my end.
