From reading the colorsync-users' email exchanges for a few weeks by
now, I imagine that it would be a simple matter for all you experts to
tell me what color files I ought to use to obtain the best results.
I use Photoshop Elements 2 (but will be switching to Photoshop CS in a
few days).
Am using OS 10.2.8
Epson Multifunctional RX500
I have received all kinds of misleading advice with sometimes strange
results.
So, how do I set the Color Setting in the file menu in Elements 2?
Should I use the color file in the preview window corresponding to the
photo paper to be used?
Ought I turn off color management in the Print window? (I have been
told not to have more than one management going at a time; but if I
turn it off, the result becomes unrealistic)?
I have used the ColorSync utility to calibrate my G4 screen as
suggested.
Yes, I have used a lot of trial and error approaches not really knowing
much about what I have been doing as my questions show. Much of what is
discussed on these emails does not seem to apply to an amateur like me
as most of you appear to be in a different league, which I respect, but
unfortunately little is very helpful.
I have corresponded with Epson tech support who, eventually, told me
that they were not color management experts and therefore referred me
to you. That surprised my to hear from a company that prides itself on
making fine printers, and, indeed, I am otherwise very pleased with my
RX500.
I would very much appreciate if someone understanding my particular
set-up will endeavor to provide me with some clear steps as to how I
should be able to make my G4, application, and printer work in harmony.
