Even illumination is one consideration, and you've a interesting
approach but I'm not sure how accurate can be. My D1x manual states
"bright areas" of the image will flash. There's no indication of how
bright or in which (or all?) color channels. Think green as luminance
channel. Have you got any info on that?

The other is the color temp. of your lights. Do you have a method for
matching that between 2 different strobes/softboxes?
