Interesting.
I can guess that Acrobat is assuming your going to raster the PDF with GIMP
drivers. OsX will then use assumed profiles depending on the PDF headers
tags upon it's creation. GIMP print drivers don't have colour management at
this time so any colour management has to be done up front. In CUPS printing
these are known as filters , Quartz filters being your one possibility to CM
short of a rip. The name Quartz filters (unless I'm way off course),
indicates that this is indeed a way to "filter" the upstream data going to
any raster image processor including GIMP.
So being that Acrobat has most of the shared CMM functions of it's other
Creative Suite you're probably discovering the differences in drivers albeit
Epson or Gimp print and the confusion of some of the associated driver
problems that so many are seeing with Epson's and the GIMP drivers at the
same time.
