Andrew Rodney's last comment reminds me that when I
send my images to a
Frontier operator, what I am doing is I'm trying to
obtain hi-end
results at a low-end consumer price! No wonder there
is some
groundwork!
Kind regards,

This is most likely the crux of your problem. Frontier
equipment which is configured for amateur finishing
markets is not ICC aware. All incoming files are
assumed to be sRGB. There are professional level
software packages for the Frontiers that honor
embedded profiles, but you will not find this in your
neighborhood photo shop. Generic Frontier printer
profiles are downloadable from
http://www.fujifilm.de/engl/serv/farbm_download.html .
These assume the lab in question is printing on Fuji
paper and regularly checks the paper balances.
http://www.drycreekphoto.com/index.html will make a
profile of your lab for free.
