Is it possible to create profiles list as I wish? so I can have subdivisions
by type and creator in photoshop?
Revision to my earlier post:
I was just trying the use of the < - > symbol for ordering profiles and
discovered this does not work. Steve Upton told me only the 7-bit
ASCII set can be used under ICC v2 profiles. I was not aware of this
till now. Thanks for letting me know Steve. I should have tested this
first before assuming the - and _ characters could be used. I use
Profile maker Pro for making my profiles. It lets me use these
characters but Photoshop does not recognize the < - > dash/minus
character. Especially if it is the first character in the profile
name. PS displays a blank area in it's list were the profiles should
be but you can not access the profile.
I use the _ (underscore) character to separate letters instead of spaces
and these profiles show up in Photoshop. I try to make sure the profile
can be recognized on any operating system. So to be on the safe side I
name my profiles with no spaces.
Number or letter characters work to create subdivisions. Remember you
will need a zero at the beginning of your numbers list if you are
creating more than 9 subdivisions. Otherwise, sub-10 trough 19 will
list after sub-1 and so on.
I have herd different opinions on whether it is necessary to use the
.icc or not at the end of a profile. Using a Mac it does not seem to
be needed. I have not made many profiles for Windows users to be sure
for that operating system. What is the list's recommendation? Include
the .icc or not? When making a profile for the Windows OS should .icm
be used instead?

David Iannarelli
