I once met a Roland salesman who explained that Roland could fine tune the Epson heads better as they had much more knowledge of frequencies than Epson because of their music instruments development. I guess HiFi comes from that same background. He didn't change his repertoire since the first Roland inkjet introduction.

DuWayne, check inkjet history a bit better and you will see that Roland isn't as inventive as you suggest: Iris, HP, Canon, Epson are the big inventors and before that IBM, Meade, Siemens, etc. Even the (eco)solvent versions of the Roland were inventions of third parties and Roland didn't support the warranty when they experimented but was eager enough to exploit their efforts afterwards. I actually wonder how many patents Roland has on inkjet technology.

A happy user of Epson 1x 3000, 2 x 9000, 1 x 10000 wide formats.

Ernst
