My initial point was that whilst Epson is certainly making inroads into
the photographic/Art repro end of the market for obvious reasons, how
does that negate the fact that there are those who have to print larger
than 44" wide and/or production volumes of prints today? To try and
tell us that "Roland is dead in the photographic market" avoids the
issue of people like ourselves with the constant need to print high
quality images beyond what Epson can do now and into the forceable
future. Our experience has been that with the explosive growth of the
market in this area, what has helped us grow and has set us apart from
shops everywhere with 9600's, is that yes we do also have one of those,
but we also cater to your needs with a 62" printer, that prints using
pure pigments with high resolution variable droplet heads, for bigger
prints and larger orders. So what if Roland is currently concentrating
their marketing on the rapidly growing solvent market. Both
technologies aren't that different and I would prefer to see them stay
as players in the professional printer market rather than do what -
make a sub 44" printer and try to compete with Epson etc.
