Hi Folks,
Thanks much for all the good input on my decision. I picked up the
Canon i960 last night, and I am thrilled with the results. So far, I
have been able to print on the Canon Glossy Plus paper and on my
favorite Ilford Classic Pearl without needing to resort to custom
profiles. The quality surpasses what I was getting with my 870 with a
customer profile. One nice side effect of this is that I can print
from other applications than Photoshop with good results. The speed is
also amazing. I can print a border-less 8.5x11 in less time that it
took to print a 5x7 in the past. I also find the extra 4x6 paper tray
handy for zipping out snapshots.
And, after rebate, $169. This is just unbelievable. I still remember
my days at Apple in the late 70's when a daisywheel printer cost
thousands of dollars....
Cheers,
Drew
PS: I had heard that there were problems with border-less on some
versions of Mac OSX. Everything works well on 10.3.4
