Um, yes.... So what? That doesn't say that sRGB is "worse" or
"better" than "Generic RGB", just that they're different. And that for
the colours in that image, "Generic RGB" is probably a closer
approximation of the image's original colour space.
What was your point? Your points re 1.8/2.2 gamma about "average"
viewing environments and the resulting gamma of the entire viewing
environment are interesting, but on the whole I'm yet another person
who's been finding your arguments for assuming something other than
sRGB to be somewhat lacking in substance.
"This bridge image looks nicer when Generic RGB is assumed" is not of
itself a solid argument.
"The rest of the world assumes sRGB for most untagged images" _DOES_
sound like a fairly solid argument.
