I own a QMS2060 printer. I know, it's not the 6100 you say you have but it
may help you nevertheless. My QMS *does* work out of ID2+ most of the time.
Occasionally, I will send it jobs, individual pages or entire documents, and
even though the printer will digest them nothing will ever come out of it at
the othe end, as though there was something in the postscript code send by
InDesign that caused the printer to flush the job! When that happens, like
you, I try to export out of ID and print from Acrobat to no avail. I ven try
print to ps and distilling to no avail either. FWIT, I noticed this behavior
especially on imported Quark documents. Fix? Other than run out and buy a
Xerox or an Xante, which use genuine Adobe PostScript interpreters, I'd make
sure I'd talk with QMS tech support about it and exhaust all the help you
can get from them first. I'd install whathever new release of their
PostScript interpreter in a downloadable EEPROM form they'd make available
on their website, too.
As you may already know, because QMS printers, like HPs and Lexmarks and a
host of others, are not 'true blue', genuine Adobe PostScript interpreter,
there is no guarantee that anything you send out of ID2+ to these machines
will ever come out at the other end as you expect it to -- when it does come
out -- especially out of InDesign, because ID uses the latest advances in
PostScript technology, like transparency and CID fonts: if the printer
PostScript interpreter is not 1,000 % "red book compatible" there is no way
to know what you'll be getting.
