I should stick to writing mails in the mornings when I can still think
straight.
In the lead frame for the InDesign 3 release the International Color
Consortium was approached for an opinion on the situation for dynamic
gamut mapping as the sole sustainable foundation for an RGB workflow.
In summary the opinion is that the position for dynamic gamut mapping
is technically confused.
It would have been rash to step into this maelstroem of popular science
and popular psychology opinions without research precautions. This is
not to say that the concept of dynamic gamut mapping is without merit,
only to say that it is as a rule misstated, and hence as a rule not
meaningfully discussed (on the Thurber principle).
As I am not fond of open systems and closed minds, when the material
has settled into place shortly, we should have a discussion here.
Thanks,
Henrik
