Oops, forgot this one.
How many times has Chris posted on the PrintPlanet list that GATF has
kits to help determine basic separation parameters for a printing
process?
The ECI had a discussion the upshot of which was that print providers
know too little about black replacement to customize the settings in
stanard print profiling software.
In the past these settings were customized for the scanner and the
press by the closed loop system provider through a support contract
system.
Black replacement was made a science and a secret which the initiated
divulged to the unitiated for a handsome fee.
Therefore, the ECI concluded, better only advocate default profiles and
specify process parameters for them (in German, of course . . . ye
gads).
The people you are talking about are the people who still think
LinoColor scanners scan CIEL*a*b* and other peoples' scanners only scan
RGB -:).
Thanks,
Henrik
(I need another coffee. Adobe InDesign 3 release version arrived week
Thursday after a detour. It had been addressed to DK-2700 Brxnshxj,
GERMANY (in capitals). Makes one wonder if those folks out there in the
Atlantic might not need an atlas, too.)
