A painful but probably valid way to build profiles. The SpectroEye is a good spectral-based instrument that, when configured properly, should give accurate results.
The most important thing is for him to choose D50 as the illuminant and 2 degree as the observer. I'm not sure if he can get spectral to go straight into the Measuretool but if he can, that's better still.
