Incidentally,
I have a printer who usually runs my jobs who soon will be migrating to ctp.
We were discussing, yesterday, the relevance of doing a press profile using
their current film output analog plate making system and, for the life of
me, I could not convince him of the benefits of doing a press profile now
since he's going ctp. But I thought about it some more last night and I
think it's very important that he does the exercice before completing his
ctp installation. Otherwise, when the ctp comes in and he starts making
digital plates he's not going to have any point of comparison as for as
process control? Yes, solid ink density is easy to figure out as it's not
bound to change with either system. But dot gain is another story? I think
he should emulate his film-based analog dot gain on his ctp system.
What do you think?
