Hi
I have a client who publishes a quality quarterly magazine and is
prepared to undertake a profile based workflow with his printer to
improve their proofing quality. They are about to print their first
issue computer to plate. I may have the opportunity to add a target
onto the print run to profile the press. It seems that this would
provide an ideal opportunity to characterise the process on the glossy
stock regularly used, at a minimal cost.
My question is:
Is this the best scenario, giving us access to final cmyk space, and we
then rely on the printer to provide proofs that match those press
conditions? If you have a profile for the press, it would seem very
difficult to evaluate it (until the next print run, when it might be
too late).
Is it better to profile the proofer, to which the client signs off and
then rely on the printer to live up to the proof? If we are providing
them with final cmyk, I assume it must be up to them to convert that to
the proofer
I have an RGB background so this is my first foray into the murky world
of cmyk profiles. Are there any special conditions that apply to comp
to plate. Any recommendations on ink limits or black generation?
I was planning on using the ECI2002 target, en eye one pro and PM 4.1.5
Thanks
Simon
