That answer is flippant but also misrepresenting my post.
I also wrote...
"As a photographer I like the idea that the prepress professionals
handle the conversions and that they work from RGB. My experience is
that I can never get any information, so that i can do the conversions
properly.
The needed information is either not available from those that dont
know or a closely guarded proprietary secret from those that do know.
Also nobody wants to pay me for that work."
as well as...
"I dont mind if the prepress people keep the profit from converting RGB
files as long as they become part of the greater world and dont ignore
color management."
So you see I'm NOT advocating that photographers do the work of pre
press and printers. I'd like to give RGB files.
I just would like it if those files be treated properly and printed as
well as can be expected within the shortcomings of 4/color process.
Since you are responding on this list - you are obviously one of few
pre press people that at least want to be involved with CM. I applaud
that. !
I'm also aware that printing presents many variables and that CM may
not be easy to implement,
but it's all we got !
How else can I photograph and have any trust in the outcome ?
Maybe you can give us some more usable suggestions, since I do not want
to "buy a press".

I agree, Ideally, as a photographer, I'd like to have some control of
the final outcome of the image I've been engaged to produce.
Then buy a press.
