<the choice today boils down to, what, Epson and HP? So, can we favor
one system over the other on the base of ink 'metamerism'?>
Metamerism aside, I would think ink delivery system would play a pretty
big role also in favoring one system over another...piezo vs thermal. I
am nowhere near an expert in inks or inkjet printing, but I will say
that proofing with both HP (5000, 20 ps)and Epson (4000, 76/9600), the
resolution, dot pattern, stability and overall print quality of the
Epsons wins hands down. A dot proof using 1 bit tiffs on an Epson looks
great...not Kodak Approval great, but very good. A dot proof on an HP
5000 is unfit to show a client.
