In french, we say it is "un voeux pieux" to hope that everyone is going to
observe proofs under the same lighting. Of course that is not possible. I
remember a photographer who was using a 1280 to make proofs for his clients.
And we could not come to grips with the fact that under tungsten ligthing,
the proofs looked acceptable, under D50-like, it looked neutral but under
daylight it turned greenish. No amount of profile editing was ever going to
get that green cast out of there and rendered the proof "insentive" to
change in lighting conditions. Heck, he said to me casually, his main
client, on the largest if not the largest advertising agency in town, don't
even have a D50 viewing booth anywhere in the building to look at proofs!
