Colour calibration across CTR and LCD

Some one on the quark express list suggested that this list may be able to
help I apologise if my question are simple or naive but searching the
internet and the relevant suppliers has not been fruitful

I have just brought a new G5 and 30 inch ACD the colour in Photoshop is way
off compared with my G4 and 22inch Lacie

So I brought the Eye one display calibration system. Its says that the
standard monitor white point settings for print graphics professionals is
5000K. I have calibrated my Lacie using these settings and to be honest I
couldn't use or trust what is see, a muddy deep yellow cast. Not that I
have ever trusted what I see but I have even less confidence in the outcome
of the calibration.

Should I be trying to calibrate to the native white point or forcing to
5000K. Or 6500K

The native on my 22"LACIE seems to 9300K and pre calibration I was getting
an acceptable screen view that printed reasonable well.

On the 30 inch ACD the yellow cast is more acceptable 5000K. And the colour
range looks more acceptable on screen. But when I move a file on to the
22"LACIE there is a great difference between the contrast of the images.

Its like the brightness is set to maximum on the 30 inch ACD

Can someone point me I the direction of information regarding monitor
settings for print graphics in the UK (Eye One do say settings can be
regional) or has any one any experience with this system that might give me
a few pointers on building a strategy for colour management across the two
monitors.
Or may by I need to find a way of developing confidence in the 30 inch ACD
And not keep checking my results on the LACIE

Regards Graeme
