It rather depends on your locality :-) Around here, post offices are jam packed with "private" business material (anything from laminating machines to writable DVDs). As well as the usual post office business there's all the other utility bill paying, driving license photos, and the million other things that seem to have been found a home in the post office. Presumably this is done to offset the costs of running the basic post service, as well as being an outlet for various government functions.
