Roger,

To make sure I just visited the Avantes web site again and under SpectroCam technical specs they continue to only list a serial connection. On closer examination of the home page, I did however, see that one could inquire to upgrade one's serial SpectroCam for a USB model. So you must be correct and they must now offer it. Thanks, I think I'll see about upgrading my own SpectroCam. And in that case I can still recommend it for use with Profiler Pro (and other software). I always found their own software to be interesting and fun, with the exception of the monitor profiling feature. I still get a much better monitor profile with a colorimeter, although I'm not altogether sure why that "should" be the case if the spectro has enough bands and is accurate. But it does seem as though the phosphor targeted bandwidth of a colorimeter does a better job.

David,

I have been using Profiler Pro for over 4 years with excellent results. I am
using it with a Spectrocam spectrophotometer. Although the Spectrocam is a
really good spectrophotometer with useful software which makes it possible to
measure ambient light, its difficult to recommend it because its still uses a
serial connection. They have not released a USB version and I don't see any
indications that they will.

There is a USB SpectroCam. As far as I can tell from the Avantes price list,
it's been available for a while now.

Clients often want an inexpensive profiling solution they can use
themselves, and I'm considering suggesting Color Vision's Profiler Pro.
Can anyone share any experience with the product and their evaluation of
it?

Thanks!
