Steven, any chance you are using Epson’s Photo Black
ink on Matte paper? If so, not getting a low Dmax on the black is a
characteristic of that combination. You could always put more ink on the paper
but, I don’t think that would improve your Black (in some cases the black
will actually go the opposite direction). However, bleeding/switching the Photo
Black (Pk) for Matte Black (Mk) would get you exactly where you want to be.

I am trying to get a denser black in my printer
profile. Right now when I take a look at in Color Think, the Black is L23 I
would like to get that down to like L13-14.
How would I go about doing this? I tried changing ucr/gcr
levels but that did not make a difference. I assume it needs to be done in
profile editor. But I am not sure how to do this.
