Hi,
I am hoping that someone on this list can explain an issue with
clipping of the image histogram when converting from a custom made
scanner profile to a working space in photoshop.
I find this an ongoing problem. When I pressed master Fraser in a public
forum about this he eventually told me that spending hours and hours
working on bringing in colors no one can see or print... well, surely I
had no life.
After weeks of therapy I decided that though he is right, I still see a
need to deliver files in commonly used spaces with no clipping as a
matter of good practice.
Some one pointed out that if no end point adjustment is done in the
scanner software (which can be argued will lower the effectiveness of
your careful profiling anyway) conversion to the larger working spaces
should not clip. I've been working with BetaGRB with success, and
ProPhoto and others should work as well.
Then the problem remains as to how to bring it in to AdobeRGB, commonly
used, without clipping. I've done it with lots of work, but have no
life, despite the therapy.
Wouldn't a perceptual working space conversion, if made possible, solve
this?
Tyler
