Hello everyone,
We also have two 7600 printers and we run them at 720dpi through
BestColorproof.
And yes, 1440dpi is too slow. That's why we use 720 and there is almost no
banding.

Hi Steve,
We run our 7600 through GMG at 720dpi and think it is 'good' for
proofing purposes. On GMG stock and other gloss / semi matt papers.
I think they look smoother than digital cromalins. But I think the GMG
adds a little 'spray' of noise that helps avoid banding.
For the higher end print work, we HAVE to run our other printer (Epson
9600) at 1440dpi to avoid any banding / gaps. (this is running matt
black)
But it takes so much longer that it depends on deadlines which one we
use. We run this through Proofmaster and print quality is amazingly
smooth with little or no banding.
I think it is a choice between time / quality, and it can be a HUGE
difference. Recently we had to run some urgent very large prints (1m x
2.5m).
At 1440dpi on the 9600 one took 2.5 hrs. At 720dpi it took 50mins. The
difference could be seen when looking closely of course, but time
constraints meant
we had to run it at 720dpi.
Interested to here what other people print at.
Graeme
