1/4 stop difference is not significant -- I've seen worse. But it's
bothering and, to some extent, unacceptable for critical color work. I'm not
a display hardware engineer so I couldn't tell you what to do to fix the
problem. It seems to me that you need to speak to LaCIE about it. If they're
a responsible company, they may give you an RMA? As a sidenote, I bought a
22" Mitsu CRT last year that suffered from uneveness, the image distorted
from left to right as I moved it across the screen. I spoke to Mitsubishi
about it and they took it back. But I was not going to take a chance on
another such unit. That's when I decided to bite the bullet and go for an
Eizo CG21. Honestly, I have not seen enough LaCIEs to tell you whether this
problem is "normal". But it's true I wasn't looking for this kind of problem
either. So it may have been under my nose all along but I didn't pay
attention to it.
Maybe other folks on the list could relate their experience with LaCIEs?
