I'm not sure quite what you are getting Fredrick? I regularly use a
very similar setup to achieve near perfect output to a Canon
pigmented inkjet and CMYK from client's artwork. In my experience,
careful positioning of lights negates the need for polarization in
most cases.
You state that RAW capture is not possible, but the Imacon backs,
like my Phase One unit, can only capture in RAW which has then to be
processed to TIFF. I am not totally familiar with the Imacon capture
software, but by passing RAW captures of the SG chart through Capture
One software with identical input and output profiles, I have been
able to create excellent camera profiles with PM 5.

Nick

Project:
Capture exiting artwork (paintings, pastels, watercolors, etc.)
for
limited edition RGB output with fine art paper.
Workflow Tools:
Imacon back
Hasselblad EXL (polarized)
Colorimetrically balanced hot lights (non-polarized)
GretagMacbeth Profile Maker 5.0 w/ ColorChecker SG
Mac G4, OS 10.2 (Adobe RGB 1998, Relative Colorimetric
conversions)
Sony Artisan Monitor
Epson 9600 (44" wide output)
Remarks:
Camera back has no white point that can be set with color
temperature.
RAW capture is not a possibility so edits to the profile are
necessary
in this "TIFF" workflow.
Question:
Does someone have a solution to create cleaner camera output
profile
in such a scenario? I wish to build profiles without edits if
possible.
Regards to all,
Frederick Park
