I guess there's one more parameter that could make sense, and that is focus.
Just depending on what you're shooting and for what purpose, it might
make sense to say "there has to be a sharply focused area of at least
some significance". For example, if you're talking about jewelry
catalog photos, it's obvious that there has to be a focused subject
(the jewel depicted).
So I believe there's an algorithm to automatically evaluate focus in a
digital photo. I've seen it at work in some plugin or program but
can't recall which. Very likely it's a pass filter looking for
contrast, similar to the algorithms used by cameras while
autofocusing.
