In case you missed it, GretagMacbeth has just given everyone a nice
holiday present. For years I have been telling everyone to ignore the
RGB values published for the ColorChecker because there was no
reference information, and the values were bad (e.g. 255, 255, 255 for
the white, showing some mystery scaling in effect).
Now, I am happy to recommend the RGB values for the ColorChecker. In
the latest Mini ColorChecker package there is a foldout guide to using
the ColorChecker which now lists sRGB and L*a*b* values for all the
patches. The values correlate well with ones calculated with
SpectraShop from spectral measurements.
Great job GretagMacbeth!
(We can only hope that this signals similar treatments for the regular
ColorChecker and the ColorChecker SG)
Happy Holidays!
Robin Myers
