I've made good experiences with this suggestion.

Before messing up your blackpoint (by adjusting the bias),
find youself a good monitor service provider, who will adjust
the hardware gain.

My Mitsubishi lost his focus when I had to drive the red gain to 100%.
I thought this would be the end of that device.
A service provider adjusted the gain and adjusted the focus afterwards.

Result: This 8 (eight!) year old thing is like brand new (at 100cd/sqm)
and sharp like a knife.
