What?!

I haven't experienced this at all. Their external file name might not be the same as the internal one, and they might not be in the conventional location, but they are there. Fire up the ColorSync Utility and look under the "Other" section. You'll find those elusive 4000 profiles! For instance, my 7600 profiles are hiding in the following path:

/Library/Printers/EPSON/SPro7600.plugin/Contents/Resources/ICC Profiles
(this is a hidden directory so don't go rooting around in your hard drive looking for them)


I am curious in what way you think you need to "access" them? They are certainly usable when printing to a 4000 on the network. As long as the driver is installed on every computer you want to print from!
