I spoke too fast :(
For some reason, ColorPort stubbornly gives me the ECI Random target on
three strips for the ICcolor? I use the GMB 2 pages
"ECI2002 CMYK iCColor 1_2.tiff" and "ECI2002 CMYK iCColor 2_2.tiff"
testcharts for compatibility with PrintOpen. That way I can use one set of
targets and universally read them in ProfileMakerPro, PrintOpen,
FujiColourKit.
So, under Properties, I select :
- Patch width = 6.5mm
- Patch heigtht = 8.00 mm
- Header and Trailer length = 45 mm
The rest of the settings go like this:
Measurement Device = GretagMacbeth Iccolor
Color Space = CMYK
Patch Set = ECI Random
Paper Size = no margins
Paper Size is the field that's giving me difficulty.
12 x 18 is too small, so is 12x20. 12 x 22 is barely enough and 12x23 is too
long, resulting in assymetric targets (one longer than the other).
But that's not all. Under the Measure Target tab, I don't get a choice of
port: it's COM1 or nothing else. I guess COM1 is grayed out but it actually
means that ColorPort is does not need the user input to detect the
instrument on the USB port? Anyway, I just tried it now and my Iccolor is
detected. It will take in the first strip, swallow it in but it will reject
it because it does not have the correct patch definition? So I'm back at
square one :(
Does X-Rite officially support ColorPort separately? Even though it's a free
download?
