We produce thousands of duratrans for displays in dept. stores, airports,
exhibits, etc. The display industry has "settled" on Cool White Deluxe for
lamps (not a formal standard, a very very casual standard", but
unfortunately there is NO standard for brightness. What we used was to place
the lamps 6" behind the translucent plexiglas, and space the lamps 1 foot
apart. However, I have seen airport displays with 8 foot lamps placed 4"
from the surface, with the lamps 2 or 3 feet apart!!! Very dim and uneven!
The best method I have found for duratrans is this - since the dye set is
the same as the manufacturers paper, simply edit your paper profile to make
a "darker1" version, a "darker2" version, and a "darker3" version. The color
will be pretty accurate, and one of the densities will be appropriate to the
light box you have to work with. Try your samples out on the light box to be
used, then use the profile to make the Duratrans.

box?
