Yes there is a problem with Eye One Pro. Eye One Pro is not accurate in the
deep shadows which I frustrated been aware of lately.
I bought the Quato Intelliproof flatscreen with their iColor software for
calibrating and profiling the monitor. When I used the Eye One Pro as a
measuring device I only got really bad result, bandings and colourshifts in
the darker areas. First of all I thought it must be the screen that is wrong
as I tested on several PC's and Mac's with the same result. But after a lot
of testing and communications with techsupport they sent me their own Silver
Haze Pro colorimeter device (X-rite DTP94). Suddenly all the problems were
gone, what we find out is that Eye One Pro is not accurate in deep shadows
and I will say "not recommended" (especially on Quatos displays) as a
measuring device, it gave me totally unusable results that looked plain
awful!!! As a matter of fact I was surprised how bad it was.
Techsupport confirmed that they had similar result and will put a note that
Eye One will not give the best result. Other colormanagement software
engineers have also confirmed that spectrophotometer like the Eye One Pro is
not very accurate in deep shadows, resulting in artefacts.
I have now monitored my prints very careful after this and when printing
images with rich blacks the problems shows up there too. I have always been
very unsatisfied with dark areas in prints but thought it was
softwareproblems but now I know better. I am not happy with Eye One Pro and
its result and looking for another device I can depend on when it comes to
dark areas too. Any suggestions? Eye One Pro is for sale

Hello, I'm making printer profiles for uncoated papers and
I have some problems and will appreciated your help and suggestions.
My workflow is Win XP, epson 2200 UC inks, Matte black. Monitor Lacie
19 III calibrated
I printed the TC91.8 RGB with No colour adj with the Epson driver.
The target was measured with eye one pro in measute tool, I averaged 3
measurements to get the reference data. When I finish the measure open
the aditional info and I select D50 and 2º and click on Lan info too.
I save it
I make the profile in PM 5.02., profile size large, Logo colorful,
paper colored gray, D50.
when I make the softproof in PsCS 2 I check the profile, perceptual
and BPC and I see a redish shift in the 90 and 95%
of the grayscale (Image 01 is the softproff in PSCS 2, perceptual and
BPC unchecked)http://img99.echo.cx/img99/1690/image015uu.jpg
. In profile editor this shift is worse (Image 02)
http://img99.echo.cx/img99/5773/image026kg.jpg.
Image 3 is with BPC checked and the shift is less.
http://img131.echo.cx/img131/1791/image032hh.jpg.
When I print the gray ramp this red shift is minimal, you can't see in
the paper. So my question are. Why do you think?.
Is that a problem with the measurements?, with the inks?. the paper?,
the device?. What I make wrong?
I see this redisn shift in Epson Enhaced matte paper
but is minimal in the soof proof,
