HI to all,
I am having difficulties getting matching prints of the same image from Photoshop and Illustrator. I am not near the color expert as many on the list but I have tried to keep things consistent and calibrated. I am using a Mac G5 and Sony Artisan Monitor. I use the Artisan puck/software to calibrate the monitor (D50, Gamma 2.2, 400:1) and use Gretag Macbeth’s Eye One to build printer profiles. Unfortunately, I am still using an old Epson 1270 (about to upgrade).
My Photoshop and Illustrator Color Settings are both using the Adobe RGB (1998) Color Space (CMYK – US Sheetfed Coated v2). The Engine is set to Adobe (ACE) on both apps and the Intent is set to Relative Colorimetric. Black Point Compensation is “checked” in both apps.
The only difference is that the Color Management Policies for Photoshop are RGB: Preserve Embedded, CMYK: Off, Gray: Off, and the Color Management Policies for Illustrator are RGB: Off, CMYK: Preserve Embedded Profile.
I am using Photoshop Version CS and Illustrator Version 10. The difference in the two images seems to be that the Illustrator version is lighter and less saturated than the Photoshop version. The image was created in Photoshop and I imported it into Illustrator using the “Place” command.
If anyone could help identify my problem or what I might be doing wrong please help. I am trying to keep this short but please respond if you have any feedback.
Thank you,
Cody Thomas
