Michael,
No mater what you do you can’t make your paper
brighter than the mat board. You will never get the paper to match the white of
the mat board. You could only match the mat board with a brighter papers (L*96
or higher) as you need to add ink to simulate the white of the reference which
will invariably lower the L* after tinting.
