Then, in my view, there is something corrupted with Photoshop's
preferences

Including the possibility that the video LUTs haven't been loaded
properly from the profile.
On a Mac this always comes from the vcgt tag in the profile, but on
Windows there seem to be other tags used by various profiling software.
Thus each profiling package seems to have its own utility that's put
into your Startup menu to load the LUTs when you log in.
Maybe that program is not being run. Maybe it is but another program
is then overwriting the LUTs with different values. Is Adobe Gamma in
the Startup menu?
I would check this before reinstalling Photoshop.
