Then please don't just make stuff up if you want to avoid negative attention.
If I understand what your saying above, ACR is moving the defined
color space around in Lab to best facilitate the incoming data. The
Fors' script is doing this based on the values of a ColorChecker
chart. Am I right? What do I win? :)
I have no idea what this paragraph is trying to convey. The Calibrate
controls in ACR do exactly what I said they do-they edit the
primaries of the built-in matrix profiles (which like most matrix
profiles use XYZ rather than Lab as PCS), no more, no less.
Now, I ask you, if Adobe allowed you to choose a camera profile of
your own making that represented the abilities of your camera
would you use it?
Only if it produced better results than the ones Thomas Knoll has
already built for me. Based on my experience thus far, that would
translate to a resounding "no".
At this point nobody can test that.
Obviously, no-one can test my experience. Anyone can replicate it, however.
It would complicate the process by forcing me to make a decision
instead of relying on automatic behavior.
If you're moving into the camera's own color-space, the behavior
should be automatic. Shouldn't it?
Again, I have no idea what this means. The capture is, by definition,
in the camera's own color space. The problem is the colorimetric
interpretation of camera RGB, and ACR does that automatically.
A good deal of misinformation and/or disinformation has been spread
about Camera Raw's color handling. Please don't contribute to it.
