I'm not sure that "faulty instrument" is a good description. For the
very best proofing profiles, the source and destination test charts
should be measured on the same spectrometer.
By definition you have the source test chart and can print a destination
chart while iterating, so you could just as easily read both charts on
the same instrument as iterate (in fact that's what you're doing
when your iterating ! :-)
