I must say that I am sorry--I did not realize that by paying homage to one
it denigrates another by default, even without mentioning that other. I do
wonder, who do we denigrate when we say nothing at all? I also did not
realize that an organization was synonymous with a man (in either case).

Oh it certainly was - Crosfield and Hell were the early to market men in the
scanning industry and big, big competitors.
Anyway I forgive you for your provocative remarks
I was mainly speaking to the color theory that Dr. Hell taught.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I think we ought to get it right here. Dr Hell did not invent colour theory
and neither did John Crosfield.
They used the theory of colour reproduction that was available from others
and produced equipment that turned a theoretical concept into a practical
reality.

Personally, I only ran one Hell scanner (a 341s); I did not like it for
various reasons. But I very much respect the man whose name it bore.
I can't imagine why? If you disliked the scanner, which I might add, was
somewhat on the old fashioned side even when it first appeared, then why
respect the originator. Rather condemn the fellow for producing a load of
old rubbish.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
For the record I am partial to another major brand who brought little to the
table at first, but had great engineering and, thus, low total cost of
ownership (and with the turn of a few knobs the seps could be quite
beautiful.)
Well unless you are talking about one of the later table top machines, of
which I know nothing, you must mean a Dianippon scanner. That phrase "lower
total cost of ownership" might have come right off one of their bits of
literature.
