Still, I believe that, whenever possible, the better choice is to select a
printer that is willing and eager to work with you, specially if you are
knowledgeable in color management and the use of profiles, instead of one
that forces you to work for them. I truly believe that, when all is said and
done, the former will provide better results than the latter.

That's the point. There must be one somewhere! I have got to find him.
... But maybe then I won't be rich enough to afford his services.
I used to deal with notorious large companies.
But there are too many actors and what I said to the sales manager would not reach the press operator.
And of course the sales manager knew nothing about profiles.
Now I decided to work with a small company.
I contacted the guy, talked a little and asked if he was familiar with ColorSync.
There seemed to be no problem. He said he was using Eurostandard to convert the RGB files.
But then in the contacts with his employee I checked and saw that his Photoshop color management
was set to Eurocoated V2, which is not at all the same profile.
And the preferences were set to "discard profiles at opening"! Huh.
So yes, I think I definitely have to go the printer's way and anticipate.
It's not that they are not cooperative, it's simply that they don't know what I am talking about.
How they get the good results that I see every day is still a mystery to me!
Best regards,
Paul Schilliger
