Folks,
ISO 2846-2 inks is no guarantee to meet some other standards! For a long
time, I was under the impression that meeting the ISO-2846-2 standard
*necessarily* translated into that same set of ink meeting SWOP or some
other standard, using some other substrate. But that's not the case, as far
as I know. To meet ISO-2846-2 standard, an ink manufacturer has to order
some "standard" Sheufellen paper from Germany, proof their inks using the
described method on that exact paper and adjust their formulation until they
reach the specified aimpoint. But meeting that aimpoint does not equate
meeting SWOP's colorimetric aimpoint on Tembec Monterrey Gloss 60 Lb, for
instance : welcome to the real world of inks.
In practice, I wonder what us is ISO-2846? Since ink manufacturers have to
make two formulations anyway: one to demonstrate ISO-2846 conformance and a
second to demonstrate some other standard conformance.
Is your experience different?
