Yes of course this is so true.
You have to profile the system including the video card for each set up.
What I would do in your case is set up calibration on the monitors in a reasonable space and gamma (monitor presets not computer host settings) and then calibrate and profile without adjusting the lightness /bright or other colorimetric settings on the monitor, just run native gamma in the profiling software. There will be differences yet it gives a standard base where the monitor controls don't move yet the associated profiles can be assumed after profiling each users set up.
