In all your past postings on LCDs vs CRTs, often based on your being spoiled

CRTs.
"Fierce opponent" is a bit strong. Once I got rid of the pink cast on
the EIZO CG21 by using BasICColor with the OPTIX, I found that it
came very close to the Artisan. The uniformity wasn't quite as good,
and the contrast ratio was smaller, but it's a very servicable
display.
Could you describe how the NEC 2180WG changed your views in these regards?
What kind of grays are you seeing and how dark is the black luminance? And
if you could say a word or two about the spectrum of these LEDs? Any reviews
coming up on CreativePro?
The contrast ratio on this display isn't huge-about 400:1-but the
fact that the absolute luminance is so much higher makes the apparent
contrast greater than the Artisan at 500:1. Black luminance is around
.5 cd/m2 with white at 200cd/m2. The grayscale tracking is as good as
anything else I've seen. I don't have any data on the individual
spectra of the LEDs, sorry.
I need to see a production unit before I could write a review-I'm
using a hand-built prototype-and I'm in the middle of travel season
so no reviews are imminent, but I'm a pretty happy camper.
