It is a welcome novel capability. It seems only X-Rite resists putting in
ambiant mode capabilitites into the Optix? (Or do I have that wrong)

Right. It's probaly worth bringing along a tripod even if it's a hassle.

A friend of mine once lent me one of those SONY VPLxxx LCD projector which
produces 1800 lumens. Very bright. He was telling me that he was using it in
his living room, projecting on his "green" walls! I said "green"? He said
yes, green. But, he went on to say, the intensity of the light is so high
that we don't see the "green".
