We have a Mimaki JV-3 Solvent machine, with epson heads. In order to detect nozzel dropout, both the rip (ergosoft) and the Mimaki firmware allow the option of printing a thin strip on the edge of the print of pure ink from each head. This makes it very easy to detect nozzel drops during the printing. Perhaps this feature coudl be incorporated into the Rip software you are running.
