Nevertheless, I think that at least a mechanism for modifying black generation and dot gain (a basic luminosity curve mapped to a dot gain table should do for that) in even a core set of profiles would be a huge boon for Photoshop users. As a secondary approach, consider the possibility of Adobe or some third party coming up with a plug-in approach (at a user-friendly price point, probably not more than $250 and hopefully less) for accomplishing basic profile modification.
To get past where we are, a useful solution to these matters is necessary, without users having to spend thousands of dollars. Or we can all just keep griping.

Would you really want to buy a version of Photoshop that costs significantly more, so you can have that particular feature ? If you've a need to regenerate profiles with different black separations, then perhaps you should buy a package that is good at that, and also provides other complimentary color tools.
