"I've just been going through the exercise of trying to
profile an Epson R1800"
I am going to chime in here:
My comment may not be in the realm of what you are asking. I no
longer have the Epson R1800. Exchanged with Epson for the R2400.
Custom profiling for the R1800 was nearly a complete disaster. I
could not profile non Epson papers. Period! And, using some of the
default settings did not help either.
There were some files with green, brown, and I don't remember what
else, that just turned out screwy. Not only the colors had problems,
but the images themselves were defective. I cannot explain it. But,
these same images, printed on the Epson R320 with custom icc profiles
for the R320, printed beautifully. Thus, the exchange for the
R2400. No longer any problems.
Again, this might not be what you were addressing.
Cheers
