Photoshop CS doesn't do absolute conversions
between matrix profiles of type 'mntr' (which
includes all the working spaces) because the
feedback from users has pointed out that 99% of
the time an absolute conversion such as the one
you're doing is operator error.
Absolute conversions between print spaces still work.

Hi Roger,
You'll have to be patient there is obviously
something , some factor, that I am not seeing.
Yet, what ever it is, its affecting three
different computers that I have tested .
After selecting absolute in colour conversion
options, I created two new RGB files with pure
white backgrounds, one in Prophoto and the
other in Adobe 1998.
In CS 2 the info palette shows the ground as L*100, 0, 0, for both files.
In CS the info palette shows the ground of the
Adobe 1998 documents as L*100, -2, -19
But of course both files appear white in both cases.
Now I convert the Prophoto to Adobe 1998 and the
Adobe 1998 to Prophoto using absolute
In CS 2 both files remain white and the info
palette shows L*100, 0, 0 after the conversion .
In CS The Adobe file turns yellow and the
Prophoto file turns bleu, while the info
palette shows the Adobe file as L*99, -5, -2 and
the Prophoto file as L*99, -3, -1
Are you getting different results?
